Description:
Chevy Chase is Fletch (1985, PG), the wisecracking investigator based on Gregory McDonald’s series of novels about L.A. journalist Irwin Fletcher. Fletch lives for his job, exposing one scheme after another by donning ingenious costumes to do his undercover reporting. Disguised as a junkie bum to research drug trafficking on the beach, he is approached by a businessman unaware of his true identity who offers Fletch $50,000 to kill him, claiming he is terminally ill anyway and his wife needs the insurance money. Intrigued, Fletch decides to unearth the full story behind the offer. It turns out the executive is not only perfectly healthy but possibly tied into a scheme involving drug trafficking, the police, a private jet and a very expensive piece of land in Utah. Can Fletch crack the case before the thugs crack him?
