About a Boy (2002, PG-13) is a dramedy set during the Christmas season, with Hugh Grant as Will, a rich, self-centered, childless Londoner in his thirties. In search of available women, Will invents an imaginary son and starts attending single parent meetings. Through one of his liaisons he meets Marcus, an odd 12-year-old boy who sings and talks to himself without realizing it, which makes him an outcast at school. Hoping to get Will to date his own single mother Fiona and thereby alleviate her depression, Marcus infiltrates Will’s life, at first to Will’s chagrin. But gradually Will comes to see that he can help Marcus by guiding him on the road to coolness. As his friendship with Marcus deepens, can Will finally find the way to his own maturity?
