Join us each month for a screening of a classic film and some light refreshments. Our July film is Meet John Doe (1941), starring Gary Cooper, Barbara Stanwyck, and Edward Arnold, and directed by Frank Capra.
Film Description: A reporter named Barbara Stanwyck writes a fictional column about a character called "John Doe," who is distraught over America's neglect of ordinary people and is contemplating suicide. The newspaper then hires an ex-baseball player, played by Gary Cooper, to impersonate John Doe. Through a series of radio addresses written by a publisher with fascist tendencies, Doe captures the public's imagination. However, when he eventually realizes that he has been manipulated, he regains his clarity and transforms into the man he never thought he could be.
