When Fern is left orphaned and alone at age 16, she avoids child protection services and attempts to live on her own. Trying to exert more control over her circumstances she begins a project to save a million dollars from her low-wage jobs. The Saver won Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor at the 2016 American Indian Film Festival.
